I went on an adventure,
Yeah, I left my plans behind,
And I cried just a little when I hugged my mum goodbye.

I ran away from time
Maybe it’s not much to some, but for me... it was driving blind.

I tried to be an island and I tried to be free,
And to get out in the world and become all the things I dreamed to be,
But sometimes getting through the week took everything I had.
Sometimes I just wanted a hug from my dad.

The world showed me where I stand:
That I’m still learning who I am.
Thought I was fine all on my own,
Through all the places I would go,
But now I know, I don’t want to be alone.

I found out that I’ve tried to bury parts of my soul.
The parts that bleed and parts that doubt, but without them I’m not whole.
Oh, they whispered words beneath the dirt like roots growing in soil,
That fed on my self-belief and made my eyes grow dull.

But someone came and showed me I’m enough.
Thought I already knew, but he made me call my own bluff.
And through it all, although I felt so incomplete and rough,
Even still, he kept on proving I’m enough.


So now I’m all the way back home,
And I almost wish I’d stayed alone,
Because I know,
That’s not where I belong.
He wasn’t even there for long,
And none of it feels wrong...
Part of me just wishes he’d come along.


I’m still the same as when I went,
But now my defences are spent,
And I did everything I could,
But not everything I should.
But if I could do it all again...
